
Paleochora is a small village in the south western Crete at the Libian See. The drive from the Village Tavronitis on the north coast to Paleochora ( south coast ) takes about 70 minutes. The path is the goal too. You will see an intact landscape with picturesque villages with vineyards, olive-trees, old oak-trees and green valleys with citric plantations . The village Paleochora is situated on a peninsular it consists on the Westside of a sandy beach and on the eastside of the peninsular there is the shingle beach. Paleochora has a small harbour. From here you can make also a day trip with the ferry-boat to other south coast villages or to the Island of Gavdos, so you will have the possibility to have a look to the Crete couth coast from the sea side. Paleochora is a “Surfers Paradise” as there is very windy, even in the summer time. There is also a German-run surf-school. The former fishing Village Paleochora is today an international pool of dropouts and well organised. Paleochora is today the most vibrant village in the south coast of crete.
