The Moni Gonias Monastery, Kolimbari The Moni Gonias Monastery is located 20 km westwards of Chania in West Crete in the Village of Kolimbari. It was built between 1618 and 1634 at the foot of the Ropopous Peninsular. Today, the monastery houses some important 15th and 17th century Cretan icons. The Orthodox Academy of Crete, an important religious foundation, is close by the Monastery. Kolimbari is one of the last fishing villages of Crete. In the tavernas you can eat fresh fish and seafood.
