Kalives, Crete Northwest
Like many other places, Kalives was originally a farming village. There are some taverns in the village square and in the narrow river bank streets. The long sandy beach was always a magnet for town dwellers with Chania only about 20 km away. Tourists and locals mix well together.
The choice of hotels is not very large. The best known is the Hotel Calives Beach. Almyrida is the next place with its beautiful bay and traditional taverns, apartments and hotels. The bus connection is very bad so a rental car is imperative.
