Koutsounari, Crete South coast
The small village of Koutsounari is about 9 km east of Ierapetra. Most of the holiday homes blend in with the landscape. The beach is made up of small pebbles but they are very easy to walk on. There are some tavernas, shops and even an internet café for those who are self-catering. The interior is ideal for longer hikes. A hire car should be part of the holiday budget. The hotels in the region are individual and family run.
