Hotel Class:
Comment “If you are looking for peace and quiet off the beaten track without compromising on luxury you are in good hands in the Istron Bay Hotel A view which will never be obstructed by buildings: the Istron Bay Hotel complex directly above the beach….. those who enjoy the sunset from the terrace of the Meltemi hotel restaurant accompanied by soft piano music …call this place the only romanticspot on earth“ (ADAC Germany, Special Report on the top ten hotels in Crete [NB equivalent to the AA in the UK]) “…..in a luxury hotel like the Istron Bay, cordiality is not a luxury!!“ (Tour Med, Germany) We totally agree with all these statements. The hospitality of the Greek-German family owners is truly sincere. It is noticeable that heart and soul have gone into the running of this individual hotel with its long-serving, friendly personnel. The hotel’s location is unique and the view of the private bay breathtaking. However, not only the location and view are unique: the hotel offers excellent cuisine. The chef, Panajotis Delvenakiotis, trained in Germany and has dedicated himself to authentic Cretan and Mediterranean cuisine. Many original Greek starters are available from the buffet. The main course is served at the table from a choice of three tasty Mediterranean dishes. Home made desserts from the in-house pastry shop (super biscuits!) round off the meal. In a nutshell: one of the finest hotels on the East coast which is also affordable! Nikoletta and Wolfgang Brack, Kreta Reisen.

Location The hotel is located directly on a sandy beach above the Bay of Istron (600 metres wide). It is about 800 metres to the little village of Istron which on foot can only be reached via the coastal road. The hotel is therefore very quiet and not everyone‘s cup of tea. A hire car is essential.

Layout This well-kept hotel has a reception, TV corner, main restaurant, internet corner and a minimarket. There is a salt water swimming pool (28 metres long!), childrens pool, sun terrace, sun beds, sun shades and bathing towels (included) at the pool and on the beach. On the beach there is a very good taverna (moderate prices and big portions) and an a la carte restaurant with cocktail bar. Total of 145 rooms.

Rooms The standard rooms with and without sea view are very comfortably furnished including: bathroom/WC, hairdryer, telephone, mini bar, safety deposit box (charge), satelite TV, central air conditioning, balcony or terrace the terraces are generous. The superior rooms with sea view are larger with a seating corner and a bed-sofa for a third person. All bathroom categories have been renovated and there is a bathrobe service. The elegant junior suites built in the Cyclades style are located in the garden and have large terraces with garden or sea view, individual air conditioning and a bathrobe service. Some of the junior suites have a connecting door and are ideal for two adults with teenage children (very big terraces). There are also apartments with separate bedrooms, partly in maisonette style. The maisonettes are ideal for families with children as they are over the pool. Important! All guests booked in superior rooms upwards are served dinner in the a la carte Meltemi beach restaurant.

Meals Half board with substantial, comprehensive, high quality buffet. Breakfast includes wholefoods. Dinner offers three choices and is served at the table (buffet style starter and dessert courses, see commentary above). Good vegetarian dishes. Gala dinner and grand buffet once a week. Baby sitting service for dinner from 18.00 to 20.00. TUI marks for satisfaction, 5 out of a possible 6!! We offer you the following extra only bookable through us: an exclusive “gastronomique menu“. It includes: dinner served in the Meltemi restaurant with suitable aperitif and digestif, plus daily specials such as fish, lobster etc, and some different half board menu choices. Half board can be combined with the “gastronomique menu“ and offers: warm and cold starters, soup, main course and a special dessert. Vegetarian dishes are also offered. Daily supplement to superior rooms Euros 23 and to standard rooms Euros 29.

Sport Included: water gymnastics, aerobics, table tennis. Charge: range of water sports including water skiing and a diving school, tennis.
